What to expect on your dog's first day at daycare
Dropping your dog off at daycare for the first time can feel nerve-wracking — for you, at least. Most dogs adapt faster than their owners expect! Here's exactly what happens when your dog arrives at Bone-Anza Doggie Day Care in Beverly for the first time.
Before the first day — the meet and greet
We always start with a free in-home meet and greet before your dog's first day. Joe will come to your home to meet your dog on their own turf, learn about their personality, their exercise needs, and how they interact with other dogs and people. This helps us make sure the first day goes smoothly — and means your dog already has a friendly face to look for when they arrive.
Drop-off
Drop-off is at 18 Bow Street, Beverly — just two minutes from Beverly Depot Train Station, which makes us very convenient for commuters. When you arrive, Joe or one of the team will greet your dog and get them settled. We find that most dogs walk in confidently after the first visit or two.
During the day
Your dog will spend the day in our 3,300 square foot, temperature-controlled facility alongside a carefully managed group of other dogs. They'll have access to toys, a big-screen TV, and surround sound — yes, really! More importantly, they'll have constant attention and supervision from Joe and his staff throughout the day.
Walks and outdoor time
Every dog goes on at least two guided neighbourhood walks during the day — great for bathroom habits, fresh air, and burning off energy. If the weather's particularly nice, sometimes we head out more. We never let dogs use the bathroom indoors — it's a habit that can be very hard to undo at home.
Photos and updates
We love keeping owners in the loop. Don't be surprised if you get a photo or update from Joe during the day — it's something we do regularly because we know how much you miss them. You can also follow us on Instagram @boneanza_doggiedaycare and Facebook to see the pack in action.
Pick-up
We're open until 4pm Monday to Friday. If you're running late, just give Joe a call — he's flexible where he can be. We'll give you a full update on how your dog got on, who they played with, and anything we noticed during the day.
